About me

We all struggle with many things from all kinds of abuse in our lives, be that Anxiety, Depression, ADHD,various trauma, from major or minor incidents, along with equality issues, organisational issues, bereavement, self harm, family issues, post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD), personality disorders, and many other issues. No matter how low or out of control these issues make us feel, with the right support and relationship we can get through these difficult times in our lives

What you can expect from me is that I will listen to your story in a non-judgemental way, so that we can build a therapeutic relationship together where you can feel safe, supported and able to explore the thoughts you want to share, and work towards you becoming your best self.

Contact me now to discuss how I can help you at Adrian Murray Counselling. Where your story matters.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified psychotherapist with a BA Honours degree from the University of Warwick in Person-centred Counselling and the Psychotherapeutic Relationship. I am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and follow their ethical framework, ensuring that you can expect the highest level of therapy and confidentiality. I have experience of working with children and adults and have a current Disclosure and Barring certificate (DBS). I have also worked within public service for over 30 years and been vetted to a very high standard.

I am further qualified in bereavement counselling, with a knowledge of CBT, Psychodynamic and Transactional Analysis styles whilst always working in a Humanistic, Person Centred method, because you are the expert in your own life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
