About me
Hi, I'm Adam an experienced person-centered counsellor working both in Leeds City Centre (LS1) and online if required. I offer a safe, confidential space to explore any present difficulties you might have which comes without judgement. We can look to discover who you are and together, we can look at areas of your life you wish to improve on and work on your healing process without judgement.
Specialist areas that my approach works well with are:
- Unexplained stress, grief, trauma, or distress - Identifying the root causes of your trauma and your current reality. I can help you navigate your behavioural changes to become more resilient to challenging circumstances in your life.
- Navigating your way through changes in your life - Discussing any changes big or small that result in ongoing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or loss of sleep.
- Relationship and family issues - Addressing family estrangement, abuse rooted in trauma, and other relationship difficulties free from judgement and social stigma whilst working collaboratively.
- Neurodivergent affirmative therapy - I welcome you to explore your neurological differences - such as Autism, ADHD, and dyslexia as natural human variations rather than deficits to be cured. We will address self-advocacy, environmental factors, and identify your strengths rather than following neurotypical strengths.
I have personal experience of completing my own healing following a brain injury in which my recovery took many years but allowed me to develop a self-awareness that comes with increased empathy, the understanding and the patience to work with others who have internal struggles and trauma.
Finding the right counsellor for you can be difficult, so I offer a free consultation via phone or video call so you can ask as many questions as you so wish to see if we’re a good match. Following this, you do not have the obligation to book in for any sessions unless it feels absolutely right for you. I understand conversations can often be avoided so I keep my responses simple and my focus is undivided in our sessions.
I work in person in Leeds City Centre but my diary is flexible and I will work online, over the phone if required.
If you would like to make an initial inquiry then do so here or use my email at adambellcounselling@gmail.com.
Let's go on your journey to self-discovery together.

Experience:
I began my counselling journey with UKCN in Drighlington and worked with a variety of clients during this experience. I work with both men and women and have developed a special interest in helping adults through unresolved traumatic early years events that has resulted in emotional numbness, distrust, and physical ailments. It was here that I came to fully appreciate the bravery and willingness of clients to attend counselling in the first place which I fully acknowledge in the counselling session.
Following my voluntary counselling work at UKCN I now work in a paid and voluntary capacity for Phoenix Health and Wellbeing, a local charity where I am still part of the counselling team today. Here, I work with a multitude of clients from different backgrounds where I use my skills, experience, and theories in a person-centered way to build honest, secure, and safe relationships.
As well as practicing at Phoenix Health and Wellbeing I also work as a counsellor at Gasped in Wakefield where I work with predominantly male clients who are working through domestic abuse difficulties and health complications impacting conflict resolution and an ability to move forward. I now run my own private clinic at Park Place Practice in Leeds City Centre and I am here to listen and provide a comfortable space where you can start your therapeutic journey.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
