About me
Hi, I'm Abi. Welcome. I appreciate how challenging it can be to find the right therapist. I work in a warm and non-judgemental way. I am an experienced Humanistic counsellor which essentially means that you set the pace, I'm not there to tell you what to do, rather we work together to explore what has brought you to counselling. I work in a trauma informed way, gently and with a focus on how things are feeling in the moment. I work with anxiety, depression, life transitions, overwhelm and burnout amongst others. My approach is rooted in kindness, patience and compassion, helping you to find your own path to wellbeing. I work with young adults aged 18 - 25, and those over 25.
I offer sessions either in person, online or walking therapy outdoors, whichever suits you best. Committed to offering an inclusive and accepting space, all backgrounds, identities and experiences are welcome. Nerves are normal, not knowing where to start is normal, we can explore together, feel free to ask as many questions as you need.
I am a registered member of the BACP and I work in line with their ethical framework.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Humanistic Counsellor (Dip) and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My experience covers working with young adults 18- 25, 25 and over, people in recovery from substance misuse, loss, depression, anxiety, social anxiety, relationship issues and neurodiversity amongst others. I have worked with people navigating life transitions and the impacts of change on their lives.
I have been practicing mindfulness for many years and can incorporate this into our sessions if it feels right for you.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I understand that reaching out for support is a brave step, and I’m committed to providing a welcoming, respectful space where you can feel truly seen and heard. My approach is gentle and patient, encouraging you to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace without judgment. Together, we’ll navigate your journey with kindness, curiosity, and genuine care - supporting you to find clarity and strength in your own way.
I work online, in-person and now also outdoors - walking therapy - this is a wonderful way to benefit from fresh air and the space to breathe whilst allowing you to express yourself freely, for some talking side by side feels less intense than face to face. Please get in touch to ask more, there are a few places where we can walk, at a pace to suit you. I look forward to hearing from you.
