About me
Welcome to my profile, it is so good to see you. Whatever may have brought you here, hopefully something you read on here will give you some guidance for the next step of your journey.
I'm Abbie, I specialise in children and young people counselling and I work with ages 5-25. I work in an integrated trauma-informed way, meaning I draw on different skills and techniques, including art and creative methods, person centred skills and CBT skills. I am led by the client, meaning each session is completely about my client's needs and my approach will be tailored towards this.
I have experience working with a range of presenting issues:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Childhood trauma
- Self-Harm and Suicidal thoughts/experiences
- Bereavement
- Neurodivergence
- Anger
- LGBTQIA+
Whatever you, or your child, might be experiencing at this time, I prioritise a safe space in sessions and a foundation of a good therapeutic relationship for the healing process to build on.
I have a wide range of knowledge and personal and professional experience about anxiety (which is a very broad topic!), including school anxiety, OCD, social anxiety, all with interlinks of trauma.
Choosing the right therapist can feel like a tricky decision and I can be there to guide you through.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to being on your journey of healing.

Lived Experience
To each counselling session I bring awareness of how challenging and overwhelming life can be, specifically as a child or young person, based on some of my own experiences navigating personal challenges with my mental health. These experiences are what brought me to this field, along with strong empathy, care and insight. Previously living in the world of being an anxious child and currently being a young person myself, means I can enter each counselling session through the eyes of the client.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
