Jen Popkin MBACP, Snr Accred Counsellor, EMDR Trauma therapist, Life/Work Coach
What Drew me to Counselling? Hello there! I have always been interested in how people learn and grow and I feel privileged to accompany clients on part of their journey. I have been described as practical, reliable, truthful and caring. The counselling experience can be challenging but also very satisfying, so why not see how we could work together? What I Offer - HELPING YOU TO BE YOUR TRUE SELF ANXIOUS AND FEARING the Future? Want to manage your ANGER? PAIN from the Past? TIRED of waiting for an NHS referral? TRYING to change your life and body? NEED HELP SOON? Support for :- anxiety issues, feelings of shame, guilt and vulnerability, obsessive love, weight control and body image for women and men, money and emotions, learning to be 'retired,' depression and low self esteem, lack of confidence, phobias, performance enhancement; relationship issues; obsessive love; personal injury claims, pain management, trauma support; work related stress, for individuals, managers and teams; couples issues; jealousy; anger management; bereavement; adults abused as children; eating disorders; alcohol abuse and other habit difficulties; physical problems such as IBS and discovering what you want from life! I offer work related Mediation, Reflective Practice support, Coaching and Counselling for teams and individuals. This service can be provided on site, by telephone or by Skype. I offer both long term and short term counselling, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Trauma Focused CBT. Each session last up to an hour, or one and a half hours for EMDR. NEW Are you a 'Baby Boomer' (born in the nineteen forties to sixties) and considering what to do next in your life? Did you know that one in twelve people aged over 70 are still working, mainly part time? Do you feel that 'retirement' is an outdated concept? I offer life coaching specifically for anyone who is at this point, whether you are coming to the end of your working life, contemplating changing career or starting a business. The sessions are not about financial advice or pensions; rather the aim is to help you to make choices that feel right for you and at your pace. 5-10 sessions of coaching spread over 10 weeks could make a difference. What can you Expect? Expect to have a meeting where the focus is on what you need to discuss and explore. Although it's sometimes hard to believe, the answers to many of our problems are within ourselves; sometimes it just needs a skilled person to help you find the key to that locked door. What I do offer therefore, is a confidential space where you can be listened to and where we can look at possible ways through those problems. I believe people have the answers to their own problems and it is a privilege for me to be invited to work with you! Where can we Meet? Therapy can take place either face to face at my practice, in your work place, by telephone or by Skype (which means that many clients are at some distance, including abroad, but still have the convenience of meeting for a session.) When can we Meet? Times are flexible, and some week ends are possible. What could you take away with you?If you are willing to work on yourself then expect to take practical coping strategies that you can USE STRAIGHT AWAY What People Say about the Experience 'I had been suicidal. Counselling with you helped me to get through that time' 'Losing weight has been easy!' 'Jen - I think I am doing really well now, thanks to your help.' 'I am using the strategies I learnt and am coping without any more therapy' 'I was going through a really tough time when my partner died. I though I could cope on my own but I found it was too much - I'm so glad I chose to have some counselling at that point.' 'I'm learning to love myself again!'

Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. Mental health problems are one of the most common difficulties that people face today. This can affect well being, not only psychologically, but also physically, which can worsen existing physical problems. A well known saying is: 'If you do what you always do, then you get what you always get!' In other words, when you are willing to make changes in your life, then it is likely that you will feel better in yourself through taking control. There's another saying: 'The journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step.' So, make a decision NOW and tap into the support I can offer you!
