About me

Searching for a therapist can be a significant step and I welcome any initial contact to discuss your needs and hopes for therapy. Initial conversations can be agreed at a convenient time for you after which you can decide on the next steps that feel right for you.

I offer therapy services in Mirfield, West Yorkshire either at my therapy room in the town centre or by video or telephone. I can work with both short and long term approaches to therapy, based on individual needs and requirements.

I am a senior accredited therapist for adults, children and young people and supervisor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a senior accredited professional (Scoped column C) with the National counselling and Psychotherapy Society.

I work with adults and young people from the age of 14 and am happy to discuss counselling by email or telephone initially. My senior accredited status with the BACP is for my work with children and young people and highlights the unique skills needed to work effectively with this age group. My senior accredited status with NCPS is for adult therapy and is in alignment with Post Scoped professional body changes.

I am also a trauma focussed therapist and can work with the impact of both recent and historical trauma. I am a fully qualified EMDR (Europe) practitioner and welcome enquiries also for specific EMDR therapy.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
