About me

Maybe we've a nagging sense that there's 'something missing', feel shame about a specific event in our lives, believe we're out of step with how we're 'supposed to be', keep becoming overwhelmed by anger, anxiety, depression or relationship issues, or have a very specific issue we want to tackle. Perhaps we have a sense that part of us is at odds with the rest of us. Counselling can provide the safe space that enables reflection, working through, and liberation.

Working and connecting with the client, that safe space is created, light can be shed on what may have previously been kept in the dark, and ways of coping, progressing and flourishing can be developed. There may well be laughter during the process!

Having worked in TV and magazines for many years, I felt a need to 'go deeper', and nearly 20 years ago retrained as a psychotherapeutic counsellor, and later as a supervisor of counsellors. I'm now Senior Accredited, providing a wide range of psychotherapy and counselling in Brighton and Hove. My original training background was psychodynamic, taking into account the client's past and how it keeps impacting now despite their best intentions, and I've also trained in CBT, NLP, hypnotherapy and mindfulness, Lifespan Integration, EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as 'tapping') and more recently EMDR. I'm also a qualified Personal Trainer. I don't take a 'one-size fits all' approach: whatever works for the specific client is the right approach. I work short and long term, and am available for Skype and Zoom sessions in addition to working in person.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
