About me
My work covers and has covered a very wide range of issues which has given me a depth of experiences, which alongside my training, enables me to offer broad perspectives and varying approaches that allow me to work with you in the most effective way, offering you the opportunity to explore, understand and process your issues, allowing you to be able to occupy a 'better place'.
I work with individuals and couples, ranging from personal and emotional difficulities, relationship difficulities, mental health issues, eating issues or just being 'stuck in a rut' and not sure where to go or how to get there.
In addition, I specialise in anger management, please visit my related website The Anger Surgery
I have worked as a qualified counsellor since 2003 using an integrative approach, gaining BACP acrditation in 2009. This approach includes Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Intervention Therapy (SFBT) and Transactional Analysis (TA).
Sessions are normally 50 minutes long, though this can be extended by negoiation, if you/we feel there is a particular need/benefit.
I was born in 1961 and have worked and lived in a variety of places around the country and feel that I have gained a valuable insight into the 'bigger picture' of people and life.
Life offers us many challenges that we may have difficulty working through. It can be at these times that we may need the help of a counsellor to find a way forward that best suits your needs.
Counselling takes place in a warm and comfortable, purpose-built timber building which is quiet and peaceful, in Stafford, Staffordshire.
I offer an open, non-judgemental, confidential approach to issues brought to session/s and use my knowledge and understanding of people, how they react and respond, together with your knowledge of yourself to help you find or achieve what you are looking for.
I am grounded, accepting, open and committed to provide you with the best professional service I am able to offer.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
