The Thirteenth Chamber: Unravelling family and ancestral histories
March 20th & 21st, 2010 in London.
In Czech fairy tales, ‘trinacta komnata’ or the thirteenth chamber is an ancient, hidden or forbidden room full of secrets and taboos in a family castle. When the room is opened the story takes a new and unexpected turn…
In this experiential workshop we will connect with some of the secrets, dreams and taboos of our lineage (family, ancestry or community) and explore the underlying dreaming and how it tangles with our life myth and calling. We will look at family patterns around symptoms and illnesses, addictions, romance and conflicts as well as collective histories such as trauma, oppression and marginalisation, our sense of home.
We will use process work methods and ideas to explore how the unfinished business of our ancestors repeats and can evolve and be a creative resource in our present and future.
This workshop is for anyone interested in exploring the ancestral dimensions of our individual or family life. It is also for people working with individuals and families in professional contexts who will gain a set of process oriented skills to deepen their work.
Process Work approach (developed by Dr Arnold Mindell) brings awareness to those aspects of our experience which tend to get marginalized. With awareness, apparently chaotic and destructive patterns are found to hold creative seeds for the evolution of the individual or community.
ANUP KARIA and STANYA STUDENTOVA are process oriented facilitators and UKCP accredited psychotherapists with extensive experience of working with groups and individuals. Both are passionate about using creative means in processes of change.
