About me

Adult Psychotherapy - Some Reduced Fee Slots available to over 25s

Psychotherapy can be helpful at those points in life where we find ourselves stuck or in difficulties in our personal and work relationships,  lost in our direction or having to manage care responsibilities for children and parents at the expense of our own self- care.

Psychotherapy can help locate the dynamics and mental/emotional states that feel blocking and express in low mood, anxiety, feelings of futility and difficulties in relating to others and ourselves.  In some, over-time, this can lead to mental heath difficulties which can also be helped by psychotherapeutic input.

As part of an advanced training in psychotherapy I am able to offer a significantly reduced fee, arrange an initial meeting to discuss this further.

Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy

I work with children, teenagers, parents.  As an NHS trained psychotherapist I have experience of working with the full range of Mental Health and Developmental difficulties and the more general emotional, behavioural and social difficulties experienced by children and young people and it's impact on families.

Work with children usually involves the use of play equipment to help children communicate their states of mind and anxieties, work with adolescents  follows a more traditional talking therapies approach although some simple art materials may be provided to facilitate this.

I offer short- term and open-ended therapy.

Parent Consultation Work
The purpose of parent consultation is to support parents in their parenting task and to gain an understanding of the the family dynamics that help and/or hinder the young person's presenting issue or overall development.

Training, qualifications & experience

I undertook a six year training in the NHS and have been working in mental health for over 20 year.  I have worked in various settings; including, hospitals,  forensics, community mental health, special education, therapeutic communities as well as private practice
