Supervision details
I am a BACP-accredited Psychotherapist and Supervisor with over 13 years of experience working in various settings, including hospices, the voluntary sector, and private practice. I currently provide clinical supervision to counsellors at a Hospice, Housing Association, and Trauma Services. I also support trainee Counsellors and qualified therapists in their professional development through tailored supervision.
I incorporate the 7-Eyed Supervision Model developed by Robin Shohet and Peter Hawkins into my practice. This model offers a comprehensive and reflective approach, examining the supervisory process through seven interrelated lenses:
Focus on the Client – Exploring the client’s issues and experiences within the therapeutic relationship.
Strategies and Interventions – Reflecting on the methods and techniques used in therapy.
The Client-Therapist Relationship – Analysing the dynamics between the client and the counsellor.
The Therapist’s Process – Exploring the counsellor’s internal responses and emotional reactions.
The Supervisory Relationship – Examining the relationship between the supervisor and supervisee, including power dynamics and communication styles.
The Wider Context – Considering the broader systemic and organizational influences affecting the work.
Self-Reflection as a Supervisor – Reflecting on my own process and impact as a supervisor to ensure a collaborative and ethical approach.
This model promotes a holistic and nuanced exploration of clinical work, helping supervisees gain deeper insights and enhance their professional practice.
My approach is integrative, offering a balance of support and constructive challenge, ensuring supervisees feel confident in their clinical work while fostering personal and professional growth. I am experienced in risk management, safeguarding, and case evaluations, adhering to the highest ethical standards.
If you are considering me as your supervisor, I offer a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your needs and ensure a good fit. Please get in touch to arrange a convenient time.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
