Supervision details
Introduction
I am a qualified Person Centred Supervisor at both certificate and diploma level. I have also trained in Hawkins and Shohets ‘Seven Eyed Model’ of Supervision.
I offer supervision to Person Centred Counsellors and Psychotherapists as well as Counsellors and Psychotherapists from other modalities. I also offer supervision to other practitioners in the helping profession such as coaches, health professionals, teachers and providers of alternative therapies.
Supervision is also offered to small groups of Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Coaches. This can work well for people that are in training.
I attend consultative supervision for my work as a supervisor.
Experience
I am an experienced Counsellor and Psychotherapist having worked with clients for over 15 years in various settings and have over 5,000 client hours. Three of these years were full time within the NHS IAPT service for depression and anxiety. The last 4 years has been working full time in private practice and please see my counselling profile experience for the orgnisations I have worked for during this time
As well as having my own private supervision practice I am also a supervisor with a bereavement charity and have been supervising with them for over 5 years. I supervise bereavement volunteers both individually and in groups and attend regular consultative supervision.
I am also a supervisor with another bereavement charity that specialises in counselling clients with complex and traumatic grief. and have been supervising with them for over 4 years. I supervise counsellors both individually and in groups and attend regular group consultative supervision for the work that I do.
How I Work
As a Supervisor I practice from a Person Centred approach. However, I will at times draw on the ‘Seven Eyed Model’ when I think it’s appropriate and helpful for the supervisee.
When supervising Person Centred Counsellors I believe the ‘Seven Eyed Model’ concepts of transference, counter transference and parallel process can all be viewed as ways of identifying incongruence from a Person Centred perspective. Once identified, the incongruence can then be worked on within supervision.
I am flexible with how I work and will always tailor my approach to meet the supervisee’s needs and requirements. This is something we can discuss before working together.
Mentoring
I am a qualified mentor and I offer this to counsellors and coaches who are in training. I also offer it to anyone who is interested in learning counselling or coaching skills as these can be useful in many areas of life.
Fees
My fees for Individual supervision are £50 for 60 mins. £75 for 90 mins.
For group supervision please contact me to discuss your requirements.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
