Supervision details
With over 13 years counselling experience working in private practice and in organisations, I know that balancing being a diligent practitioner with the necessity to practice self-care and run a business or work in an organisational setting is not easy and requires ongoing self-reflection/coaching. That’s where my experience comes in to empathically support, challenge and empower you to stay on your path whilst sailing through sometimes rough waters with your clients.
In my supervision practise I offer an integrated approach based on the 7 Eyed Supervision model. I believe supervision is a working alliance based on openness, honesty and mutual respect, where you can be heard, supported, challenged and nurtured. Together in a supportive space we will engage and discuss your work, your feelings and ways to increase your personal development and growth. This two way process is offered as a safe and confidential space where you are safe to express your thoughts and emotions openly without fear of judgement or assumption. I hold a Post Graduate Level 7 Certificate in Supervision and I am an accredited member of the BACP and follow their guidelines and work to their ethical framework. Fees £55.00 for 1 hours and £80 for 1.5 hours.
Whatever the reason you are looking for a supervisor, choosing a supervisor is a process that requires thought. Whether it is because you are about to start a counselling placement and require a supervisor for the first time or because you need to change supervisors or find a new supervisor. It is important you feel comfortable that your supervisor can provide a supervisory relationship which meets your needs. If you feel I might be the right supervisor for you, then please get in touch to discuss things further. I offer a free initial session to explore if we feel we can work together. I offer clinical supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists and other helping professionals, such as social workers, support workers and community workers. I have extensive experience of working both in private practice and in counselling organisations both as a counsellor and as a group facilitator and mental health trainer, I understand the complexities and differences of counselling practice in both areas from the different perspectives of working alone as a counsellor in private practice and as part of a counselling team in a large organisation. As a supervisor, I see my primary goal being to improve the quality of the work that my supervisee is undertaking with their clients. Quality supervision should provide a safe space for the therapist to step back and look at the therapeutic relationship between them and their client or supervisee. For this to happen, I believe there needs to be solid supervisory relationship where the therapist feels supported, safe and is able to take risks. Overall, I believe supervision should be a stimulating, motivational process in which challenge and reflection are very much a part. My aim as a supervisor is to promote the competence and creativity of my supervisee in a non-judgmental way, to enable the supervisee to grow and develop into the most effective therapist or supervisor they can be, to enable them to work skilfully and ethically with their clients or supervisees and importantly to develop their own therapeutic or supervisory style. Overall, supervision should also ensure a duty of care to the supervisee and their clients, ensuring the maintenance of ethical and legal practice, as well as the continued professional development of the supervisee. Please get in touch if you’d like to find out more about me and my supervisory practice. I would normally suggest that we meet for an initial session to see how we fit as supervisor and supervisee. I do not charge for this. I also offer supervision via Zoom.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
