Supervision details
I am an accredited member of the BACP and I am a qualified supervisor based in Mid Devon. My background is in Gestalt therapy and I am also qualified in systemic practice and CBT. I offer a safe place for you to come and talk about your client work. My role is to keep you and your clients safe, and to help you work to the best of your ability as a counsellor, enhancing your work professionally whilst guiding your work ethically, in line with the BACP requirements. I see a strong educational component to supervision and feel it is important what we work collaboratively as supervisor and supervisee. This will give you the opportunity to look at new and different ways of working, exploring the various counselling models, theories and techniques, and helping you to find the best way forward for your client work. I will also want to get to know you as a person and understand you in the context of your life as a whole. Recognising that you bring yourself to your work as a counsellor, and therefore it is important that I have an understanding of your life and the impact that it has on your work and vice versa. Whether you are employed as a counsellor, in private practice or in a placement I am happy to meet with you for an initial free session to talk about the possibility of working together. Please see my website for more information about me and the counselling work that I am involved in. My fee for supervision is £55 per hour, or £75 for an hour and a half.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
