About me
Hi,
I’m Vipanan, a counsellor in Aberdeen supporting adults with anxiety, overthinking and feeling disconnected from themselves.
Many people I work with are used to pushing through and holding everything together, while feeling quietly overwhelmed or exhausted underneath.
As you read, you might notice what happens in your body - whether something here feels steady, familiar, or right for you.
I know it’s not always easy to choose the right counsellor. We don’t often pause like this in everyday life - turning attention toward what we’re sensing rather than staying in our heads.
Yet the body is often already communicating through emotions, tension, or subtle signals about what feels right or not. Many of us were never taught how to recognise or trust this. Therapy offers a space to begin noticing again.
How I can help
I offer online counselling in Aberdeen for:
Anxiety and overthinking
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
Feeling overwhelmed or stuck
Low self-esteem and self-doubt
Disconnection from yourself
People-pleasing and difficulty with boundaries
You don’t need to have a clear explanation for how you feel - often it begins with a sense that something isn’t quite right.
How I work
I am a pluralistic counsellor, with a person-centred foundation and influences from CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and body-mind awareness.
There isn’t one fixed way of working. We find what helps, together. Sometimes that means exploring thoughts and patterns. Other times it’s about stepping back and seeing things more clearly. And at times, it may involve noticing what is happening in your body and staying with it long enough for something to shift.
At the base of the work is learning to recognise your internal signals, while also staying connected to the wider context of your life - your experiences, relationships, and circumstances.
What to expect
Sessions are a space to slow down and begin to really listen to your needs, wants and hopes again - to get grounded enough in yourself to gain clarity, understanding, and release from old patterns.
Sometimes the work feels quiet and gradual. At other times it may feel more active or reflective. There can also be moments of uncertainty or messiness - that’s part of the process.
Over time, you may begin to notice:
Feeling more able to make decisions without constant doubt or reassurance
Less internal pressure and overthinking
More steadiness and self-trust
Feeling more connected to who you are, rather than losing yourself to others
For many, this doesn’t feel like achieving something new, but more like a sense of relief - like putting something down you didn’t realise you were carrying.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have many years of experience working with adults in a counselling setting, including 7 years with Aberdeen Counselling and Information Services (ACIS).
I hold a Diploma in Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy. My training is grounded in person-centred therapy, with additional influences from CBT, psychodynamic, somatic and body-mind approaches, allowing me to work flexibly and responsively.
I am a registered member of the BACP (MBACP) and work within their ethical framework. I hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurance, am a member of the PVG Scheme, and am registered with the ICO for data protection.
Final note
If something here feels like it might be what you’re looking for, you’re welcome to get in touch. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear explanation - an initial message is enough. We can take things step by step and see whether working together feels like a good fit, with no pressure to continue.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
