About me

Welcome, thank you for taking the time to visit my profile.

Taking the first step to seek out support can seem overwhelming, wondering which counsellor or type of counselling will suit you and the difficulties you have been trying to manage on your own. It's important to take time to get a feel for the counsellor you choose to work with, if after reading my profile you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch, I will be happy to arrange some time to give you a call, to discuss further how I may be able to help support you through this difficult time.

The main modality and foundation of my practice is person centered approach, this places you at the centre of the work, as we as individuals are experts on ourselves, we know what hurts, we know how life and relationships have impacted us. I offer a safe non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, to help you to take back control of your life, by empowering you to believe in you.

I find for some clients that using an integrative approach using different tools and techniques can be beneficial, as we are all different and counselling is not one size fits all, just as we all learn differently, we all process events in our lives and our thoughts and feelings in our own way. I also offer CBT counselling, which is goal focused and looks at changing dysfunctional thoughts and behaviours, that can be causing difficulties.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
