About me
I have a practice in Leicester
Central Leicester 10 minutes walk from the train station.
I offer one to one therapy both short term and long term for a wide range of issues. One of the rooms I use has step free access. Accessibility requirements will be discussed further in my initial response to your query. My approach is relational and person centred. I also work developmentally with an understanding of how our upbringing can impact us lifelong. Our first meeting is always an assessment for us to decide if we can work together effectively. At this assessment, I will ask you about yourself and what brings you to therapy and explain more about myself and how I work, what you can expect from the therapy and the contract you would be entering in to. This first meeting will also be a chance to discuss any specific requirements you may have to make the therapy accessible for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an experienced therapist and supervisor, qualified to Masters level as an Integrative Psychotherapist and registered with UKCP since 2002. I have worked in a variety of settings as a counsellor including as Head of Counselling at Leicester University and for 12 years as CEO of a specialist counselling service . I am also a trainer at Masters level and a qualified supervisor. I work to both UKCP and BACP ethics.
I offer supervision to individuals and groups for both trainees and qualified therapists and am an Approved Supervisor with Metanoia Training Institute .
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
