About us

I work for The What? Centre which  is a children and young person's counselling service provided in both our Dudley or Stourbridge Office, children and young people (9-18 in some cases up to 25)  who have a GP in the Dudley Borough.  Private counselling is also available online for those who cannot visit the offices.  I also run a Social Enterprise with the Charity and we offer private counselling and I also offer Clinical Supervision.

I am BACP Accredited and have a Post Grad Diploma in Psychological Counselling and a Masters in Counselling and also an MBA.  I have 34 years of experience of running a counselling service for young people and 20 years experience of running the Social Enterprise. I have a Post Grad in Supervision and, at this time really want to concentrate on supervising counsellors. My fees for supervisions per 1.5 hours are £85. I offer a reduced costs supervision for students at 1.5 hrs. for £70. These fees in turn help to support the Charity.

My model is integrative including person-centered, psychoanalytic and CBT and over the years I have become very practiced in also using creative therapies which will also be something that I can also offer knowledge of in supervision.  I have provided supervision for University Students and Counsellors in Private Practice.

Our Mission Statement is to provide high quality, client-centered services for young people and their families.

Our aims are to empower young people towards achieving their potential through providing them with an advice service, a counselling service, continuously developing services that reflect the changing needs and opportunities and lobbying on behalf of children and young people. Our work with children and young people was put in place to encourage early intervention with problems.

The Centre also provides a variety of specialist services including advice services, LGBTQ+ and BAME and family support and also a specialist HIV project called BeeHIVe. You will find more information about the charity on our website at thewhatcentre.co.uk. The What? Centre has been awarded the Queen's Award and holds BACP Accreditation and Investors in People.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
