About us

Clockwork is a registered charity that provides support to young people within the Oxted area to help prevent mental health issues and to provide counselling and support to young people with mental health problems.

Clockwork contracts with local counsellors to provide counselling services at an agreed commercial rate paid by Clockwork. Typically, the service is free to the client.

Our normal client age range is 11 to mid twenties but we will always try to provide suitable help regardless of the age range.

Training, qualifications & experience

Anyone providing counselling services on behalf of Clockwork must hold relevant and valid qualifications, details of which can be shared with young adults and/or parents/carers on request.

All counsellors are also required to be members of BACP and to commit to abide by the BACP ‘Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions’ (see https://www.bacp.co.uk/events-and-resources/ethics-and-standards/ethical-framework-for-the-counselling-professions/) and will be required to confirm they have read and understood the Framework.

All Counsellors must have an enhanced DBS check, professional liability insurance and a system providing them with regular and ongoing management evaluation, clinical supervision and training. Supervision is a formal arrangement for Counsellors to discuss their work regularly with someone who is qualified and experienced in Counselling and supervision.

Counsellors must maintain accurate and confidential counselling records and communicate with Clockwork in the best interests of the client, whilst within the limits of client confidentiality, including making referrals to other agencies where appropriate and providing feedback to Clockwork.

Member organisations *

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

Other areas of counselling we deal with
