About me
I am a qualified and experienced EMDR Europe Accredited Child, Adolescent and Adult Consultant and a BACP Accredited Therapist. My therapy practice is based in Didsbury, South Manchester.
Events, experiences or triggers can cause anxiety, depression and or relationship problems at some stage in our lives, making our everyday life very difficult. Unwanted memories, fear, trauma and habits we don't understand and cannot give up, can cause emotional turmoil. At these times we cannot make sense of life's puzzle, since none of the pieces are obvious to us in that moment. Counselling can help put some of those pieces together, helping us to see the whys and the wherefore. It can eventually help us to see a clearer picture, working towards positive change and understanding.
My areas of expertise include; trauma and abuse, eating disorders, relationships, anxiety and depression, loss and bereavement. I also have an interest in psychosomatic illness, on how the emotions can affect your body.
Working with children and adolescents
I work with children and young people aged 5 to 17 who may be experiencing emotional, behavioural and communication difficulties associated with any of the following:
- loss and bereavement
- parental separation and divorce
- bullying, low self-esteem
- anxiety and stress
- eating disorders
- trauma
- abuse or neglect
Children and adolescents usually use play and art making as a way to express themselves and to work through worries and concerns. This can:
- promote emotional and social well-being
- build self-esteem and confidence
- explore difficult feelings in a safe space
- encourage self-expression
- improve communication and relationships
- encourage greater social awareness
- develop boundaries
- relationships and trust
- explore body awareness and personal space
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 17 years post qualifying experience of working as a therapist with children, adolescents and adults both in Manchester and in London at various well known treatment facilities.
My main training is psychodynamic and attachment based, which is based on the idea that our patterns of relating to ourselves and others are formed in the earliest years of our life. As such, I aim to help clients identify the emotional core of the difficulty they are experiencing so that we can work to resolve it in the present. In addition, I have undertaken specialist training to work with children and adolescents and am highly experienced in engaging youngsters. I am also trained in a variety of specialist trauma treatments, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and work with the full range of traumatic experience, including childhood abuse and sexual violence.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
EMDR Europe
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
