About me

Hello, my name is Tasmin. I appreciate the time you have taken to view my profile. As you have found your way to my profile, I want to acknowledge that it may not have been easy to reach out in this way and that it is an important first step that you have taken to seek support - you are already doing so well.

The support I offer

My journey into becoming a counsellor started with the wish to offer a safe and confidential space for people to come, away from the pressures and noise of the outside world. A place where you can take a pause, be still and think about what you need. I aim to provide a warm and safe space - a space that can be moulded by you into what feels most comfortable for you.

As an integrative counsellor, I offer support for a range of issues, and adapt the way I offer support so it feels most helpful for you as an individual. I primarily use a person-centred approach, offering a warm, safe and non-judgemental space, to explore and express your emotions and thoughts. I acknowledge that you are an individual who will deal with things in your own unique way. I am led by you in what you feel you need from your space; a space to reflect on and process your experiences; to feel listened to and heard. I aim to be a guide through this experience; I will work with you to find a way to the answers you seek, and in doing so, helping you to feel empowered along the way. The way I might describe it is pieces of a puzzle - we will aim to find and put together the pieces of your unique puzzle.

I have experience working with low mood, anxiety, relationship problems, family conflict, abuse and trauma. I am mindful of what might impact your experience of counselling, including cultural and societal factors.

Working creatively

I am passionate about bringing creative ways of working into sessions - so we can think together about how we can connect with feelings, thoughts and emotions when it might feel hard to access them through talking, or to enhance the sessions. This includes drawing; colouring; painting; sand and water trays; the use of stones, marbles and buttons - to name a few.

Support for pregnancy and baby loss

I am passionate about supporting others through bereavement, grief and loss and have undertaken training to work and offer support in an informed way with those who are struggling with loss.

One of my specific passions lie in supporting those impacted by pregnancy and baby loss, including mothers, fathers and other family members. With these issues often being a taboo within society still, those struggling can often feel invisible and alone in their grief and loss. I provide a non-judgmental and safe space where you can share your own personal experiences.

Whether you are looking for general or more specific support as I have described above, I am here to listen.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
