About me
I am Dr Tanya McDonnaugh, an experienced Clinical Psychologist (DClinPsy) registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Being human can be a wonderful experience, full of joy and connection; but it can also be overwhelming, bewildering, and exhausting. It’s no wonder many of us end up repeating unhelpful behaviours that defeat our interests, despite our knowledge and best intentions.
I am experienced at assessing, and treating most psychological, emotional, behavioural and relationship difficulties. You might be struggling with a specific problem like anxiety, low mood or OCD. Or perhaps you have difficulties in relationships, with your self-esteem, or in your ability to manage your emotions.
We will work together in a safe and skilled environment to achieve real change, rather than just a 'sticking plaster'. I specialise in attachment and complex trauma, and I'm highly trained in the following evidence-based treatments: CBT, EMDR, CFT, and IFS.
I provide services to adults, children, couples and those looking for adoption support.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Additional information
Before booking an appointment I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation so that we can discuss your concerns and work out if the services I offer are appropriate for your needs.
I am not able to offer support to AXA , Aviva, or Bupa funded clients. These companies have fee caps that fall significantly below my fees, and they unfortunately do not accept co-payments. I am registered with a number of private health insurers including WPA, Vitality and Cigna.
Please contact your health insurance company to check that they cover what you are requesting. You are welcome to contact me if you have any queries.
