My name is Dr Tanya McDonnaugh and I am a chartered Clinical Psychologist (CPsychol), registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
I am experienced in assessing, formulating and treating a variety of psychological, emotional, behavioural and relationship difficulties, big and small.
You might be struggling with a specific problem like: anxiety, low mood, OCD, or PTSD; or maybe you have the sense that you are just not functioning at your best. Perhaps you have noticed difficulties in relationships, with your self-esteem, or in your ability to engage with daily tasks.
My goal is to create a safe, non-judgemental and nurturing environment where you or your family can get to where you want to be.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist, I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) and an undergraduate degree in Psychology (BSc Psychology). I also have level one accreditation with the Association of Family Therapy.
I completed my Clinical Psychology training at UCL (University College London) and have eight years' experience working in the NHS and local authority settings in adult and child mental health, including: teams for fostered and adopted children, child and adolescent mental health services, adult community mental health teams, occupational health services, and trauma services.
I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches for adults and children, including: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Systemic Therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Attachment based therapies like Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).
I provide services to adults, children and young people, families, and those looking for adoption support.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
