Tania Brocklehurst MBACP (Senior acc.) Psychotherapist, Counsellor, Supervsior
** Update September 2020 - Therapy during Covid 19
In addition to my usual information below, I have adapted my practise to provide online, or telephone counselling to existing and new clients and supervisees in addition to face to face appointments as appropriate. I have training in this area and am comfortable with the process. If you would like to enquire more about how this might work for you, feel welcome to contact me through this site.
Sessions are held in much the same way, on a prescheduled day and time for the therapeutic hour of 50 minutes or as appropriate for children. **
Welcome to my Counselling Directory profile. I am a BACP senior accredited integrative psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor, and currently work as a CAMHS practitioner for a local healthcare provider, alongside my private practise.
I have a strong person centred base and this provides a foundation for me to work with you using a combination of therapeutic approaches best suited to individual requirements and the issues that you would like to work through. I can work confidently and in an empathic, gentle yet focused manner in both long and short term frameworks.
I have worked in mental health and care services for over 20 years, qualifying as an Integrative Counsellor in 2004, and am experienced in working with children, adolescents, young people, adults and the elderly for a wide range and depth of issues, in particular anxiety and depression, panic attacks, school, exam and work related stress, relationship or employment issues, mental health difficulties, transition and loss, and working with people through life stages to develop sense of Self and meaning.
I understand that finding the right person and deciding to meet a new counsellor to begin a piece of self development work is an investment on many levels. If it helps, I am happy to arrange to talk on the telephone or through email to answer any questions you might have. We can then arrange for an initial assessment session.
I work within the BACP, UKCP and BABCP ethical frameworks from a professional office in Hemel Hempstead with good parking facilities.
I have a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and can work using a pure or integrated CBT approach with issues such as anxiety, panic disorder and OCD. I have trained in working with individuals with mindfulness, and am experienced in holding group mindfulness sessions, completing Teacher Training 1 with Bangor University in 2016. I am happy to integrate mindfulness, meditation or relaxation techniques into our sessions if this would be useful.
I managed a counseling and bereavement service for a local hospice for 12 years, gaining experience in end of life care and bereavement and co- managed a childrens service through a transition period for 18 months, working with children and families facing serious illness I also have experience working with children in care, adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues in residential homes, and those experiencing drug and alcohol addiction.
Following qualification as an Integrative Clinical Supervisor in 2013, I am actively experienced in supporting both student and experienced counsellors and therapists case loads through individual and group supervision. If you are a counsellor or therapist looking for supervision or your own counselling or therapy please feel welcome to contact me.
I am currently writing my dissertation having passed all other elements of a Masters in child, adolescent and family therapy. This incorporated a Diploma in Sand Play Therapy, a tool both children and adults have had fantastic results with in sessions.
Some clients come along just for a couple of sessions, perhaps for some CBT or mindfulness tools to manage a particular situation, others come to me for long term psychotherapy for perhaps relational issues or long term anxiety or depression. . Both approaches have equal, different value and I am happy to discuss this with in our first session.
If you feel drawn to working with me, please feel welcome to contact me, I aim to respond to enquiries in 24 hours.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
