About me
Hi, I’m Stacey, a counsellor based in the Northeast of England. I’m a down-to-earth person who understands what it's like to be in the client chair.
- ''I've tried therapy before, but it didn’t work.''
- ''What's the point in talking?'
- ''I just try to get through each day, but it feels like I'm wasting my life.''
- ''No one understands’’.
- ''It's stupid really, I shouldn't feel this way’’.
- ''I wanted to say no, but I said yes to keep the peace.''
- ''Sometimes, I feel like just running away’’.
If you’ve found yourself saying or thinking any of these, you’re not alone. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, relationship/family difficulties, trauma, suicidal thoughts, or simply feeling lost in life right now, or maybe you’ve spent your whole life being the strong one, and now you’re fed up. Whatever it is that has brought you to my profile, I can sit with you, and we can figure it out together.
I offer both in-person and online counselling to suit your needs. This includes early morning and late evenings via online counselling.
As an integrative, person-centred counsellor I support adults through their darker times. I have a special focus on Men's Mental Health and my aim is to help you feel like you can let go and be yourself for a moment and I will support you whilst you work through your thoughts and feelings.
Therapy is not a one size fits all process, so my approach is adaptable. For example, some sessions you may just need a listening ear, others we might use some cognitive behavioural therapy to provide the tools for particular issues. Maybe we need to take a psychodynamic approach and delve into earlier experiences, and if being creative is something that helps you process, we can do that too. My approach can be reflective or gently challenging, we can work out which works best for you together.
I have experience from multiple settings including.
- Supporting SEMH children and teens within both mainstream and SEN school settings and gained valuable insight into the difficulties that come with being neurodivergent, both for the individual and their families.
- Supporting women within abusive relationships whilst their partners undertake perpetrator programmes. Allowing me to see what is happening from the inside.
- Supporting adults struggling with addiction within a group setting, gaining insight into the barriers they face.
- Providing therapeutic counselling to primary aged children facing various difficulties.
- I currently work within a charity organisation that offers support disabled children and young people and their families, where I offer therapeutic counselling and support them through daily struggles, carer burnout, and grief.
Outside of the counselling room,
I am a mum of four that craves peace and quiet but lives a loud and messy life (some things are just out of our control!)
Taking one day at a time and drawing on the experiences and training I’ve gained along the way to support you through some of your toughest times.
So, if you feel we could be a good fit for each other, drop me a message and we can take that first step together.
