Qualified Counsellor (MBACP)

About me

Hello, I’m Sophie, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. I provide a warm, non-judgemental space where you can safely explore your feelings at your own pace. I specialise in working with anxiety, low mood, depression, and relationship difficulties, and I have extensive experience supporting neurodivergent clients. I aim to offer therapy that is flexible and adapted to each individual’s needs.

As an integrative therapist, I draw on psychodynamic, person-centred, and CBT approaches, tailoring therapy to suit each client. This may involve exploring past experiences alongside current difficulties, and working with thoughts, emotions, and relationships to support deeper understanding and meaningful change. I believe the therapeutic relationship can help uncover patterns that may be holding you back and empower you to move forward with confidence and self-awareness. I’ll listen closely, offer insights, and provide practical tools to help you navigate challenges, all within a safe, confidential space where you can explore your feelings and create positive change.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and I adhere to their ethical framework and code of practice, ensuring a professional, ethical, and client-centred approach in our work together.

I offer both in-person and online sessions, providing a flexible, accessible service that meets your needs. I offer short-term and long-term counselling.

Taking the first step into counselling can feel overwhelming. It’s important that you feel comfortable and confident with the counsellor you choose. I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation, which is a chance to ask questions, understand how I work, and get a feel for what our sessions might look like. If it feels right for you and you decide to continue, we will set up regular appointments at a time that works for you and begin our work together. To arrange your initial consultation, please get in touch.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
