About me
Sometimes, it can feel like your mind just won’t switch off. You might spend a lot of time worrying about what could happen, replaying conversations in your head, or looking for reassurance that everything is okay. Perhaps you experience intrusive thoughts that leave you feeling anxious, guilty or unsettled, even when they don’t reflect how you feel or what you believe. It can be exhausting when your thoughts keep coming back, leaving you feeling stuck in your own head.
I work with adults and young people experiencing anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and low mood. You might be overthinking decisions, worrying about what other people think of you, struggling to relax, second-guessing yourself or finding that anxiety is starting to affect your relationships, work or everyday life.
You may understand logically that your thoughts aren't helpful, but still find yourself caught in the same cycle. Counselling can give you the space to understand these patterns, explore where they come from, and develop ways of relating to your thoughts and yourself differently.
My approach is integrative, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on what is relevant to you. You don't need to have everything figured out before you start. We can begin with what's happening for you now and work from there, at a pace that feels manageable.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and trained in an integrative approach to counselling. I have undertaken additional training in attachment and childhood development.
I previously worked as a counsellor within a local Glasgow charity, supporting people experiencing a range of difficulties including anxiety, bereavement, difficult childhood experiences, relationship difficulties, caring responsibilities, low self-esteem and burnout.
I also have a background in education, with seven years' experience supporting students. This has given me particular experience of working with young adults and an understanding of the pressures that can come with education, work, relationships and navigating adulthood.
Alongside my private practice, I work in a professional role supporting children and families. This has further developed my experience of listening carefully, understanding different perspectives and working sensitively with complex circumstances.
My training and experience allow me to look beyond the immediate difficulty and consider how your experiences, relationships and ways of thinking may be influencing how you feel today.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Therapies offered
Fees

Additional information
I offer a reduced rate of £40 per session for students, making counselling more accessible alongside the financial pressures of studying.
Further information
I offer counselling from a welcoming, private therapy room in Clarkston, with appointments available on Saturday mornings. I also offer a limited number of evening appointments.
Sessions are 50 minutes and are usually weekly, although this can be discussed depending on what you need.
You may have been thinking about counselling for a while, but feel unsure whether your situation is “bad enough” to warrant it. You don't need to be in crisis to seek support. Sometimes having somewhere to properly talk through what is happening can be enough to start making sense of things.
If you are considering counselling but aren't sure whether I am the right person to speak to, you are welcome to get in touch and ask any questions before booking.
