About me
My passion is working with individuals to help them overcome obstacles and become a healthier, happier version of themselves. All of us struggle with mental health difficulties at some point in our lives and so I believe that therapy should be seen as an act of self-care, just like looking after our physical health.
Addressing mental health concerns can be overwhelming and it may be difficult to know where to start. Working together with a therapist helps you to identify the cause of your problems and break these down into more manageable chunks. I provide a safe, supportive environment for you to start to make positive changes.
I understand that reaching out to someone can be a challenging experience, so I will do my best to provide reassurance to you by being open and honest about what I can offer and how we can get you the best support for your needs. I offer a free 15 minute consultation, so you have a chance to get to know me and to decide if therapy is right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have 15 years experience of working within the NHS and private services as a mental health professional. I am an accredited CBT Therapist and a trained EMDR therapist. My approach is primarily focussed on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy however I incorporate approaches from Compassionate Mind Coaching, Distress Tolerance and mindfulness. Treatment is personalised to your needs whilst remaining evidence based.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
