About me

You are the expert of your life!

I am a pluralistic counsellor with 25 years of experience working in restorative roles with adults,  children, and young people in a variety of settings from youth and community centres,  to schools and counselling agencies today providing one-to-one counselling in a client-led fashion.   Counselling is a way to support anyone struggling with their mental health who may feel that they are in crisis.  The basic principle of pluralistic therapy is that people can be helped in different ways, at different times in their lives and by different processes and activities.  My therapeutic approach will help you to identify areas that are causing you difficulty, support you to set goals and intentions for what you wish to achieve, and to collaborate together around what we feel is best for you at this time facilitating change in the areas of life that you are struggling with.

Counselling will help you identify and move past the obstacles that may have been keeping you back in your life and to identify your personal values and strengths. It will empower you to see your life through a different lens, to gain new perspectives and achieve the outcomes you’re striving for in your life. No-one can predict the future but we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. With my counselling sessions, you’ll learn about acceptance and how to deal with whatever life may throw at you.

I am a qualified adult, child and adolescent therapist currently working as a School counsellor as well as an Adult counsellor within my current private practice.

Child and Youth counselling is similar to adult in terms of the purpose, goals, and problems it can address, but it differs with the focus of explaining these topics in a youth friendly way.  Techniques and exercises offer ways that are appropriate, to your age, to understand yourself in the world.  You may prefer to talk,  play games, do activities or complete exercises and we can decide together what we feel suits and will be most helpful for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
