About me

Unhelpful, intrusive thoughts and uncomfortable feelings are a normal part of being human. Sometimes however, we get stuck in painful vicious cycles by reacting to them in unhelpful ways. This doesn’t mean that we are broken, only stuck. If you would like to learn new ways of responding to these thoughts and feelings then maybe I can help you.
I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with 26 years of experience working in both NHS and private settings. I specialise in OCD treatment, and I have extensive experience assessing and treating a wide range of anxiety and mood problems using CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness tools. Over the years I have found this approach to be extremely effective in helping people to recognise and break unhelpful patterns, overcome problems, and particularly in preventing relapse.

Flexible Therapy to Fit Your Needs
My aim is to get to know you and your personal values so we can together understand your main issues and make sense of what’s maintaining them. I tailor my approach to your unique situation, offering traditional, comprehensive courses of CBT and ACT for deep, thorough work. However, if you already have a good understanding of your problem and its history but are simply feeling stuck, a long marathon of therapy might not be necessary. For these situations, I also offer Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT)—a brief, highly targeted adaptation designed to deliver immediate clarity and real-world tools in a shorter timeframe.
Your Blueprint for the Future
No matter the length of your therapy, we don't leave your long-term independence to chance. In our final sessions, we collaborate on an individual, written Relapse Prevention Plan. You will summarize what kept your old cycle going and document the precise tools that broke it, leaving you fully equipped to confidently become your own therapist.
How to get started
Making a decision about therapy and which therapist to choose can be difficult. I am happy to offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation prior to any bookings to explore your expectations and help you make your decision. Please feel free to contact me by email to arrange a chat.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have a lot of experience working with emotional difficulties particularly anxieties such as OCD, social anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia and PTSD. A carefully graded exposure approach usually works best in these areas particularly when guided by personal values. You can learn how to become your own CBT therapist by making lasting changes during CBT sessions.

My Way of Working
I offer flexible online therapy sessions across Yorkshire, allowing you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Working online means you do not have to worry about travel times or location limits, making it much easier to fit sessions into your week.
Importantly, clinical evidence shows that face-to-face and online therapy produce the exact same positive outcomes. You receive identical quality of care, tools, and results without the need to travel.
Whether you need a traditional course of therapy for deeper work or a brief, focused path to quickly get back on track, I tailor my approach entirely to you. Drawing on 26 years of experience, I help you make room for difficult feelings, step back from unhelpful thoughts, and stop the exhausting cycle of being anxious about being anxious.
Planning Your Long-Term Success
We always wrap up our work together by creating a personalized, written Relapse Prevention Plan. This is your own practical roadmap where you note down what keeps your old cycles going and the exact tools that helped you break free, ensuring you leave fully equipped to look after your own mental health confidently in the future.
