About me

Hi, my name is Shari, I’m a CBT and ACT therapist.

Unhelpful thoughts and uncomfortable feelings are a normal part of being human. Sometimes however, we get stuck in painful vicious cycles by reacting to them in unhelpful ways. This doesn’t mean that we are broken, only stuck. If you would like to learn new ways of responding to these thoughts and feelings then maybe I can help you. I have a lot of experience assessing and treating a wide range of anxiety and mood problems using CBT. I use a range of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness tools to enhance and compliment traditional CBT. Over the years I have found this approach to be extremely effective in helping people to recognise and break unhelpful patterns, overcome problems and particularly in preventing relapse.

I'm an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and have 22 years experience of working in the NHS with mental health difficulties in both primary and secondary care settings.

My aim is to get to know you and your personal values so we can together understand your main issues well and make sense of what’s maintaining them.  Are you finding yourself hooked by unhelpful thoughts and uncomfortable feelings? Then I hope to give you a CBT/ACT toolkit so that you can manage these and be empowered to make any desired changes and move forward towards a more full, rich and meaningful life. You are very welcome to find out more my visiting my website here: https://www.shariwoolleycbt.co.uk/

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have a lot of experience working with emotional difficulties particularly anxieties such as OCD, social anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia and PTSD. A carefully graded exposure approach usually works best in these areas particularly when guided by personal values. You can learn how to become your own CBT therapist by making lasting changes during CBT sessions.
