About me
I offer counselling for adults and children (5+) online and in-person. I can help you or your child navigate life's difficulties in a safe, supportive environment.
I focus on your individual experience, building a picture of your world and the difficulties you face. Sometimes, saying things out loud and discussing them with someone who is not part of your daily life can help make room for change, growth and healing.
I have experience of working with a wide range of concerns, with special interests in identity and relational issues, anxiety, neurodivergence and bereavement in childhood/ young adulthood. I am a neurodivergent therapist (autism and ADHD), and I welcome clients who are neurodivergent (diagnosed or self-diagnosed), or are wondering about possible neurodivergence.
I am a member of Creative Counsellors, a UK-wide collective of counsellors working therapeutically with art and creativity. Some clients enjoy working collaboratively during our sessions to express and explore feelings - with paint, drawing, collage and other mediums. Some clients prefer to just sit and talk - I am always led by you, and will listen to what works for you.
In addition to my work with adults, I have worked with young people aged 5 -18 for over a decade, as a teacher, workshop facilitator, bereavement support worker, and now counsellor. Children are affected by life's difficulties just like adults - they experience grief, sadness, loneliness, anger and anxiety. The difference is that they are still learning how to put those feelings into words. So when I work with children, I bring a rich toolbox of play and creative activities, including games, painting, collage and crafting. These can help children focus on something while they talk, easing any anxiety and building a safe, supportive space to process emotions.
I have counselled children facing a range of difficulties, including anger, bereavement, anxiety, bullying and issues related to neurodivergence and developmental diagnoses. They are given the same care and attention that I would give to an adult client, and I work with them to help them communicate their feelings and needs to the trusted adults in their lives.
If you think I might be a good fit for you or your child, please contact me via email with a short description of your situation, and I will get back to you with some suggested slots for our initial session.

Further information
I have experience of supporting adults' and children's emotional health in the third sector and in education as a primary teacher. I have delivered training in schools, and devised and led group support programmes for primary and high school children.
My BA is in Visual Communication from the Glasgow School of Art, and I think my creativity goes hand in hand with my passion for supporting emotional wellbeing. I think the expressive arts can really help us access our emotions and describe our experiences. Where my clients wish, I can facilitate collaborative therapeutic art sessions, as well as traditional 'sitting and talking' therapy. I also believe in educating ourselves about how our minds work, so I like to share articles, links, videos, book recommendations with my clients too.
