About me
Hi, I'm Sara. I’m a warm, relational psychotherapist offering thoughtful, grounded support for adults navigating life transitions, identity questions, anxiety, shame and low self-worth. Many of the people I work with come to therapy because they feel disconnected from themselves. You might be unsure of your purpose, questioning your worth, or carrying emotions that feel heavy, confusing, or isolating. Sometimes these experiences include thoughts of suicide or a sense of being overwhelmed by life. You can bring all of this - nothing is off‑limits.
I work relationally, which means the therapeutic relationship itself becomes part of the healing process. We pay attention not only to what you’re experiencing, but also to how you and I meet each other in the room - the patterns, expectations, hopes and fears that show up between us. This can offer a clearer, kinder understanding of how you relate to yourself and others in your life.
My approach is steady, grounded and curious. I don’t rush you or offer quick fixes. Instead, I help you slow down, understand what’s happening inside you, and make sense of the patterns that shape how you feel and how you relate to the world around you. Together, we create a space where you can speak openly, explore what troubles you, and begin to reconnect with your own clarity and confidence.
You’re welcome to bring anything that feels important, confusing, or difficult. This might include questions about identity and belonging; experiences shaped by politics, culture, sexuality or gender; challenges around sex and intimacy; grief and loss; the emotional weight of money; or the thoughts, dreams and worries that surface at night.
I offer a space where you can slow down, feel understood, and explore yourself with compassion rather than criticism. If you’re feeling stuck, uncertain, or ready to understand yourself more deeply, I’d be glad to work with you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I’m a Psychotherapist, Counsellor and group facilitator, based in Reading, Berkshire. I work with clients face-to-face and online, in short- or longer-term work.
I completed my training at the Gestalt Centre in London, earning a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master’s in Gestalt Therapy Theory. As an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), I strictly follow their ethical code. My work is supported by ongoing supervision, which ensures both my professional growth and the highest standards of care for my clients.
Before training as a psychotherapist, I had a long career in the National Health Service, working at senior level in governance and management. I have also worked in the fitness industry and as a librarian. I have a wide range of life experience to call upon.
Whilst I’m qualified in Gestalt, I work broadly with relevant parts of other therapeutic approaches, focusing on the importance of the therapeutic relationship.
I gained my initial experience working within a University Wellbeing Service and a local counselling charity. I’ve worked with anxiety, depression and low-mood, grief and loss, suicidal thoughts, sexual assault, identity issues, relational difficulties, and have a special interest in shame and life-transitions.
I’m here to help you to get to know yourself, how you make sense of your world, how different situations affect you, and how you make choices in your life. In understanding and accepting yourself it’s my belief you can make choices that support you to lead a satisfying, fulfilling life.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Creating Space for Change
If you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or unsettled - or if something just doesn’t feel quite right - therapy can offer a safe space to explore these feelings. Gestalt psychotherapy is especially helpful for looking at past events and understanding how they continue to shape your present. My role is to support you with compassion and curiosity, trusting that real change comes from accepting yourself, rather than from willpower or self-criticism.
Exploring Your Experience Together
In our sessions, I invite you to explore what’s happening for you right now. We’ll look closely at how you’ve learned to move through the world, and how your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations shape your experience in each moment. By examining these patterns, we can gain a clearer understanding of what’s working for you - and what might be holding you back.
A Relational Approach
My style is relational, which means I pay attention not only to your individual experience, but also to how we interact together in the therapy room. Our work is shaped by the understanding that life is deeply interconnected, and you don’t have to face every challenge alone. We’ll also consider the wider cultural and societal influences that may be affecting you.
Mind-Body Connection
We’ll pay close attention to the connection between your body and mind, noticing how your emotions show up physically. This might feel new at first, but together we’ll discover the unique ways your body communicates. This process often leads to valuable insights and a deeper sense of self-awareness.
Supporting Life Transitions and Identity
I am especially committed to supporting women as they navigate significant life transitions - whether you’re coping with menopause, exploring your sexuality, managing the challenges of divorce, or responding to societal pressures around ageing. I’m passionate about helping you explore your identity, embrace change, and foster self-acceptance. My approach is always rooted in empathy, understanding, and a dedication to your empowerment.
