About me
Counselling is not a one-size-fits-all approach, so I am very mindful of providing a service that meets the needs of the people I support and work with. If you are unsure whether counselling is right for you and would like to understand a little more about how I work, please reach out and book an intro call. I am always happy to share the ways I work and would be keen to understand what you would like to get out of counselling. I really believe that clients are the experts in their own lives and need a space where they can be witnessed, seen, and heard. I aim to offer a space that feels safe, contained, and emotionally held.
My approach is person-centred and relational, grounded in empathy and authenticity. I aim to create a safe, supportive space where individuals feel heard and understood. I have experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, bereavement, trauma, relationship issues, stress, suicidal ideation, academic pressures, and suicidal thoughts.
As someone who has grown up in a culture where it has felt difficult to open up emotionally, I found myself holding on to a lot of challenging beliefs around mental ill-health. I have spent the last 7 years focusing on my well-being and dedicating my experience to this practice. I aim to bring compassion, empathy, and kindness, and meet you where you are.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have over 6 years of experience supporting adults and young people struggling with mental health difficulties. I am a registered member of the BACP and have a Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling from the University of Leeds.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
