ONLINE BABCP Accredited CBT & EMDRUK Accredited Therapist

About me

Process your past, ground yourself in the present, visualise your future.

I'm Rebecca Muller, a highly experienced, BABCP Accredited Psychotherapist and EMDRUK Accredited EMDR Practitioner, specialising in trauma focused CBT and EMDR. I work with adults, offering focused, evidence-based support in line with NICE guidelines, the gold standard for healthcare in the UK. While I'm based in beautiful North Berwick, East Lothian, all my sessions are held online, so you can access high quality trauma therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

I'm so glad you've found your way here. If you're reading this, it likely means you're choosing to prioritise your wellbeing, and that's a powerful, brave step. Maybe something traumatic has happened, and no matter how hard you try, you can't seem to move past it. You might feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like the world has shifted in a way you didn't choose.

Perhaps the worst has already happened, and now you're wondering if you'll ever feel like yourself again. You may be feeling unsafe, out of control or carrying a deep sense that something is wrong with you, blaming yourself or not feeling good enough. These thoughts can feel isolating, but they're common responses to trauma, not reflections of your worth. Most of all, you're searching for relief, for peace and a way back to yourself. I can help you get there.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Issues I Can Help With

I have extensive experience supporting individuals through trauma and PTSD, using evidence-based therapies such as Trauma Focused CBT and EMDR. If you're wondering whether these therapies could help you, please feel free to get in touch, I'd be glad to talk it through with you.

Potentially traumatic experiences I work with:

•       Death of a loved one

•       Divorce or relationship breakdown

•       Witnessing distressing events or being unable to help

•       Miscarriage or stillbirth

•       Suicide or murder of someone close to you

•       Serious illness, injury or terminal diagnosis

•       Neglect or abandonment

•       Bullying and harassment

•       Domestic violence or abuse

•       Vehicle accidents

•       Physical or sexual assault

•       Robbery or violent incidents

•       Discrimination or systemic oppression

•       Work-related trauma or burnout

•       Financial crisis

•       Natural disasters

It's important to remember that trauma isn't just the event itself, it's the lasting emotional impact it has. In its broadest sense, trauma can be any experience that overwhelms your ability to cope, leaves you feeling powerless or deeply affects your sense of safety and worth.

What we might explore in therapy:

Working with trauma involves more than just processing what happened. We may also explore beliefs and emotional patterns that have taken root since the trauma, including:

•       Fear, sadness or grief

•       Guilt, shame or self-blame

•       Anger, betrayal or loss of trust

•       A sense of degradation or humiliation

•       Low self-worth, or feelings of being 'unclean'

•       Helplessness, hopelessness and mental defeat

•       Moral injury- when your core beliefs or values are violated

•       Dissociation or emotional numbness

•       Rumination - getting stuck in loops of negative thinking

•       Flashbacks or intrusive memories

Every trauma is unique and so is every recovery. Together, we can work gently and safely to help you make sense of what you've been through. From there, we'll begin moving towards a place of resilience, clarity and strength.

FREE Initial Call

10-minute telephone call - FREE

Full Online Trauma-Focused Assessment - £105 (60 Mins).

Single Online Therapy Session (CBT or EMDR) - £105 (50 Mins).

EMDR at £105 per session and why this investment makes sense:

A course of EMDR typically spans 20 sessions, and that structured, time limited nature is one of its greatest strengths. Rather than open ended therapy that continues indefinitely, EMDR is designed to achieve measurable results within a defined timeframe. That means:

•       You know what to expect, both clinically and financially.

•       You invest in a defined pathway to recovery, not an open ended commitment.

•       My fee of £105 per session reflects BABCP accreditation, EMDRUK accreditation, and years of specialist clinical training.

•       The quality of the therapeutic relationship and the clinical rigour I bring are inseparable from the outcomes my clients achieve.

Many of my clients tell me that working with me has been one of the most transformative investments they have ever made in themselves.

Join My Waiting List - Secure Your Place Now
Due to the quality of care I provide and the results my clients experience, I currently operate a waiting list with an anticipated wait of approximately one month. I would encourage you not to let this deter you, in fact, many of my clients tell me that the time they spent waiting became their preparation time: a moment to gather courage, reflect on what they hope for, and arrive at our first session ready to begin.

Joining the waiting list is simple. Make contact with me, and I will hold your place and be in touch to schedule your initial assessment as soon as availability opens. The wait is genuinely worth it and the care and quality of the experience that EMDR with me can offer have rewarded every client who has taken that step

How to get started:

1.  Book your FREE 10 minute initial telephone call

A brief, no pressure conversation to discuss your needs and see if we're the right fit.

2.  Join the waiting list and begin your preparation

Current wait: approximately one month. Use this time intentionally, you are already on your way.

3.  Complete your full Trauma Focused Assessment (£105, 60 minutes)

4.  Begin your EMDR or Trauma Focused CBT sessions (£105, 50 minutes

All payments are made via internet bank transfer in advance to secure your session. This protects your appointment slot and enables me to maintain the high standard of preparation and care that I bring to every session.

Further information

I run a small, focused private practice, and I pride myself on maintaining a smaller caseload so that every client receives the quality of attention and care they deserve. This deliberate choice also enables me to offer small group sessions, workshops and retreats, extending the reach of evidence-based trauma work beyond the individual therapy room.

I have extensive experience working with individuals, government organisations and emergency services, and have been involved in several high-profile incidents. I aim to strike the sweet spot between working within a rigorous evidence-based model and a client centred, holistic approach, because I believe you are more than your mental health issue.

For me, mental health is not a static state of being, but an outward expression of how we feel inside, and the influence of the environment around us. I firmly believe, the body and mind have the ability to heal themselves in the right environment and together, we can create that environment for you.

I have extensive experience supporting individuals through trauma and PTSD, using evidence-based therapies such as Trauma Focused CBT and EMDR. If you're wondering whether these therapies could help you, please feel free to get in touch, I'd be glad to talk it through with you. If I am busy, I will aim to call you back within 24 hours. From there, I will be available to answer any questions you may have, and you can tell me briefly why you have called. For your safety, we will not open up any of the trauma at this time, but keep it contained until an assessment session if that is booked.

If we agree that we can work together, I will send you a consent form to sign as standard practice, which will outline how we will proceed. Once you return the signed consent form and make your initial payment, we can begin with your assessment session. I usually suggest we start with an assessment and six sessions and review at the end to see if more are required.

If for any reason I cannot work with you, I will signpost you to an appropriate organisation or back to your GP, as some issues are better suited to longer term specialist work rather than brief, focused therapy.

Important Information about Risk and Crisis Support:

Please Note: I can work with you if you are experiencing thoughts of suicide or superficial self-harm, but not if you have a plan or intent to complete suicide. I do not offer crisis support and all sessions are pre-booked.

If you are at high risk, please contact your GP, call 111 out of hours, or contact The Samaritans on 116 123. If you are at immediate high risk, please present at A&E or call 999.
