Becky Griffiths - BA Hons, PgDip Counselling and Psychotherapy, MBACP
I'd like to open the door and welcome you in. Pull up a chair and hear you deeply. To be with you in confusion or pain, sadness or laughter. I would like to welcome all parts of you, including those parts that you struggle to bring.
The purpose of therapy is change and our relationship is an environment where this work can take place. It needs to be, and feel, like a warm safe space before you can start meeting your challenges. I work primarily in a person-centred way, which means I support you to access your own potential for growth through an attuned and co-created relationship based on empathy, honesty and non-judgement.
It's important to find the right therapist for you.. come and meet me.. you get to choose..
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified person-centred psychotherapist and counsellor and registered member of the BACP, offering therapy to individuals over 16 years of age.
The person-centred approach has been the core model at the heart of my professional work for the past 12 years, whether that be offering therapeutic activities to older adults in care, through community arts projects or 1:1 peer support for new mums.
In addition to private practice I currently work as a volunteer counsellor in a therapeutic community for people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction and an infant feeding peer supporter.
I am passionate about my ongoing personal development and learning, recently attending workshops in Therapeutic Presence, sexualised trauma, Internal Family Systems, Assisted Self Discovery, Person-Centred Expressive Arts therapy, 8 Shields Nature Connection and suicide alertness.
Areas of counselling I deal with
- Attachment disorder
- Carer support
- Chronic fatigue syndrome/ME
- Domestic violence
- Low self-confidence
- Low self-esteem
- Passive aggressive behaviour
I offer a free of charge, unconditional session to give you an opportunity to meet me and see if I am the right therapist for you.
My standard fee is £35 for a 60 minute session.
I offer daytime and evening sessions.
I try and be as inclusive as possible by reducing fees for people in genuine need, but I ask for those who can afford it, to pay the full fee, or if they can, a little bit more. I am unable to offer any reduced rates for evening sessions.
Sessions take place in a quite, cosy space, just a 10 min walk from central Lancaster and a 4 minute drive from J34. There is free on street parking. The room is up one flight of stairs, however I am able to offer a comfortable, fully wheelchair accessible room in town by arrangement at no extra charge (subject to availability).
