Becky Griffiths - BA Hons, PgDip Counselling and Psychotherapy, MBACP(Accred)
I'd like to warmly greet you, to offer you my whole-hearted attention and to hear you deeply. To be with you in confusion or pain, sadness or laughter. I would like to welcome all parts of you, including those parts that you struggle to bring.
Times are strange and curious, so to offer you the most flexible and continuous service, sessions are offered via Zoom video call, telephone and (if it feels right for you) face to face outdoor therapy. We can explore meeting outside in all weathers - sitting in a willow grove on comfy chairs, clasping hot brews (and sometimes umbrellas!), or walking.. side by side.. and exploring what's on your mind. By having a few options open it means that if you or I are isolating or if there is a change in the rules, if the internet connection fails or the weather is wild, we can always find a way to meet.
Therapy is a process of growth and discovery which helps you make sense of things. By offering you empathy and non-judgement and by being open and real with you, I work to offer you a place of safety where you can bring your burdens. I want to offer you some relief from your distress and bear witness to things it might be too hard to say to anyone else. I would love to help you be at ease within yourself.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified person-centred psychotherapist and counsellor, and a registered and accredited member of the BACP, offering therapy to individuals over 16 years of age.
The person-centred approach has been the core model at the heart of my professional work for the past 14 years, whether that be offering therapeutic activities to older adults in care, through community arts projects or 1:1 peer support for new mums. This commitment to the person-centred approach lead me to train as a therapist in 2015 and I have been seeing clients continuously ever since.
I'm passionate about my ongoing professional development and learning. Some of my further training which informs my evolving practice includes Level 1 certificate in Person-centred Expressive Arts Therapy, multiple CPD trainings in Polyvagal Informed Therapy, Internal Family Systems for Complex trauma, Assisted Self Discovery and Existentially informed therapy - if anything here gets you curious we can explore this.
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
I offer a free of charge, unconditional session to give you an opportunity to meet me and see if I am the right therapist for you. This could be via zoom, telephone or an outdoor therapy session.
My standard fee is £45 for a 60 minute session.
I currently only have daytime sessions available.
I am committed to being as inclusive as possible by reducing fees for people in need, please talk to me if this feels like you.
When working face to face outside is suitable, sessions are in a field just a 10 minute walk from Lancaster city centre and 4 minutes from J34. There is plenty of on street parking available. Wellies and woolies are recommended!
