About me
Hi, I’m Rachel. I am a qualified supervisor and integrative therapist. Over the last eight years I have worked all over Scotland providing therapy to clients who are struggling with a wide range of life’s issues. By using an integrative approach I have been able to match the clients needs, building that all important therapeutic relationships. Within the last few years I began to take an interest in working with young people, and this has now became my area of focus. I was also lucky enough to be apart of large project with the Scottish government helping to introduce therapy into rural schools, this experience has shaped a big part of my approach now and gave me a greater understanding of what YP need from therapy regardless of their surroundings.
Training, qualifications & experience
My basic training is in the Person Centred approach and from there I have completed training in a wide range of areas, such as CBT, solution-focused brief therapy,DBI, and attachment-aware approaches. As my interest and work with CYP grew I also completed courses which are offered within schools such as LIAM.
My experience working within school systems provides an in-depth understanding of timetabling, safeguarding pathways, multi-disciplinary meetings, pastoral structures, and SEND processes. This has enabled me to align therapeutic support effectively with curriculum and behaviour policy.
I routinely engage with teachers, SENCOs, family members, CAMHS, social care, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support. A critical part of my role is safeguarding and risk management: I maintain current safeguarding training, conduct thorough risk assessments, follow mandatory reporting procedures, and manage sensitive disclosures. Although most of my clients are now below the age of 18, my experience and understanding of attachment issues, trauma, and family relationships has provided me with the skills to work well with clients over 18.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
