Counsellor, CBT and Accredited BACP

About me

I am a qualified and accredited integrative Counsellor, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), and an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist.

Our initial session will allow us to get to know each other. Then, you will discuss your concerns, experiences, expectations, and therapy goals. I will explain how we will collaborate to meet your treatment goals.

I consider the relationship between the counsellor or therapist and the patient essential and the key to the therapeutic process. I aim to work together with you to support you and offer a safe, confidential, understanding, and nonjudgmental space where you will feel comfortable exploring your concerns at your own pace.

My Approach & Vision

Everyone can overcome challenges when ready and have the proper support at the right time.

My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your difficulties and work towards meaningful change.

Therapy Services

I offer short-term therapy (typically 6 or 12 sessions) and open-ended/long-term therapy for in-depth personal growth.

I offer one-on-one therapy for adults and older adolescents in person and online. My services are available in English and French via Teams and Zoom.

Areas of Special Interest

I have a strong interest in supporting individuals dealing with Sexual Orientation and gender identity issues, Race, Racism, Cultural Identity, and Relationship Challenges.

Experience & Expertise

I have extensive experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds, including those with different sexual preferences, disabilities, and a range of mental health concerns, such as Depression and Anxiety Disorders, including Panic Disorder, Health Anxiety, Social Anxiety, and General Anxiety Disorder, Anger management, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Therapeutic Approach

Our work together will focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of your challenges. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you understand and reshape unhealthy thought patterns, fostering a healthier mindset. Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences by processing "stuck" memories, reducing their emotional impact.

Additionally, I take an integrative counselling approach, incorporating elements of Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) and Psychodynamic to provide a tailored and holistic therapeutic experience.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
