About me

My job as a therapist is to help you to live life better. The purpose of therapy is to help you to identify what is holding you back or getting in the way of you living your life how you want to. Whether this is cycles of thoughts, persistent feelings, repetitive behaviours or being stuck in relationships or situations that aren’t fulfilling you. Therapy can help you to explore these, gain understanding and develop solutions that make sense to you.

You are the centre of our work.

This is a space where you are welcome in your entirety, all sides and aspects of your personality, especially those which you might not feel comfortable showing to other people. All emotions have a place in therapy ranging from sadness, anger, depression and hurt to joy, happiness and excitement. Your tears are welcome, as is laughter. It is not my place to impose solutions or judgement on you, instead to guide you with warmth and empathy to those which make sense to you.

We will go at your pace.

We can have as many or as little sessions as you want. There is no pressure to go quicker than you want to or in directions you don’t find useful. We can use tools, techniques and strategies that make sense to you. We can be as focussed as you want and use goals if you find these useful, or we can take it session by session placing what is important to you in the moment at the centre of our session.

Enough about me, let’s talk about what brings you here.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
