About me
I am an integrative counsellor providing confidential, safe, client-centred support for adults and young adults. I help people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in patterns of anxiety and overthinking to understand themselves better and make meaningful changes. I work with people facing difficult life changes—such as loss, retirement, ADHD, Autism - helping them make sense of things and move forward with more clarity. I offer support for men's mental health - men who may be struggling with stress, anxiety, or low mood, offering a straightforward, confidential space to talk and work through what’s going on.
I will work alongside you with empathy and respect, helping you to better understand your difficulties, finding ways forward that feel right for you. I offer counselling for anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, relationship difficulties, carer support, low self-esteem, providing a supportive space to explore what’s going on for you. We will work at a pace that is appropriate for you and together review progress and set goals and targets.
Getting Started
Finding the right counsellor for you is important. That’s why I offer a free, informal, no obligation, introductory session - in person, on the phone or online.
This introductory session is a chance for us to get to know each other. You can talk about what brought you to counselling and we can explore whether therapy may be helpful for you. We can also set initial goals or intentions.
Fundamentally, it provides an opportunity to see if, together, we could work in a way that will benefit you.
Counselling Sessions
If you decide to continue, we will meet on a weekly basis at a pre-agreed day and time.
I would normally expect you to commit to an initial six sessions, after which we will review your progress. Following this review, we can decide to commit to a further set of sessions or, we may agree to an open-ended contract.
Training, qualifications & experience
Meet Pete
Integrative Counsellor (Dip. Therapeutic Counselling, Registered MBACP Member)
Before training as a counsellor, I was a teacher for over 20 years, supporting children and young people both academically and emotionally. I then worked as a Mental Health First Aider, delivering training across voluntary and private settings and now I work for the NHS as a Health Improvement Lead, focusing on resilience, emotional health and wellbeing.
It’s through these experiences – and my own personal journey with counselling – that I found a deep passion for supporting with their mental health and wellbeing.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Walk and Talk Therapy
I offer Walk and Talk therapy as an alternative to traditional sessions. I meet with clients along Deal seafront and these sessions combine gentle movement, conversation in a beautiful therapeutic setting.
Walking together can reduce stress, improve mood, and support reflection while working through concerns such as anxiety, low mood, or life transitions.
Wellbeing Support
I also support physical and emotional wellbeing through approaches such as relaxation techniques, mindfulness, self-reflection, social wellbeing, and healthy lifestyle practices.
