About me
I am a qualified Humanistic and Integrative therapist who trained at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (accredited through Staffordshire University).
My practice is built on a 30 year career within the public sector which I believe adds a unique dimension to my approach. I have a wealth of life experiences which form the foundation upon which I have developed my therapeutic approach. I offer warmth and containment to create a safe space for you to explore your story and empower you to make the changes you need.
I acknowledge the courage it takes for many of us to make that first step towards therapy. It can be daunting but I hope the initial, no fee, assessment will allay any concerns of how we will proceed. We can arrange this initial meeting if you call or email me and take things from there if you wish.
From personal experience, I understand working in a pressurised environment, dealing with trauma and suffering. I also know how this can be held within, unprocessed, with the potential to contaminate relationships and keep us stuck. My aim is that through our therapeutic relationship, there will be a creative potentiality to heal, grow and achieve happiness and contentment.
My practice includes working with and supporting the Emergency Services who experience the most traumatic of events on a consistent basis. I am also a counsellor within NHS Clinical Services. As such, I have experience in working with complex trauma and its manifestations that continue to present on going life challenges.
My Approach
Being an Integrative therapist, I work with different theories and consider how one or more might be best applied to where we find ourselves in the therapeutic relationship. It will be here where we make sense of what it means to be you. Together, we will consider current thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour with my intention being to address them with empathy and compassion.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
