About me
I am Dr Paul Barrett, Clinical Psychologist. I provide psychological therapy, training and consultation for adults (18+) and mental health teams for a wide range of mental health problems, including:
- Anxiety and stress,
- Depression,
- PTSD,
- Difficulties with self-esteem
- Personality disorders/ complex trauma.
I have experience in working with clients with both short term, and longstanding difficulties, offering one off assessments, to longer term work.
I work mainly using Cognitive Behavioural and Therapy (CBT) and EMDR, but integrate other therapeutic models when required. This enables us to find a 'best fit' approach based on your individual needs and preferences. I am a qualified EMDR therapist (level 3 with EMDR europe accredited training), which is an evidence based approach for working with PTSD and other trauma related difficulties.
I offer a positive, non judgmental approach and work collaboratively with you to help understand your difficulties and find a positive way forward. Please look at my website for more details.

school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
