About me

Hello, my name is Pat Crabtree - a warm welcome to my profile.

This feels like a big step  Approaching counselling can feel like a big step - I absolutely get that - and yet we all experience times when life circumstances lead to increasing confusion, overwhelm and stress in which we can struggle to gain any clarity on the best way forward for ourself.

The demands of modern life  Mental and emotional distress are incredibly common within the demands of modern life and are not signs that there is something inherently wrong with us - only that we are presently struggling to cope on our own.

Embracing who you are  Each of us is utterly unique in the life we've so far lived and how that has shaped us: this means we not only have our own unique perspectives on the world but also that we're all equipped differently in terms of our resilience and resourcefulness in the face of life's challenges and difficulties.

A precious opportunity  Counselling provides a precious opportunity to begin to acknowledge and accept who we are and where we are right now in life - as a necessary foundation upon which we can then begin to create a life increasingly aligned to our authentic values and needs.

Confidential and respectful support  As your counsellor I'll provide a space in which the uniqueness of who you are is held with warmth and respect, my aspiration to create a safe, trustworthy space free of judgement and expectation in which you’ll feel supported to explore your present experience.   Gaining clarity and understanding on why things are as they are right now for you, your next steps forward to a better experience will begin to emerge naturally.

I am currently offering a FREE 60min Introductory Session (online/telephone).

If you feel I might be a good fit for you or if you have any questions at all then please get in touch by text, call or email.

Pat: 07902 594000/counsellor.patcrabtree@gmail.com

I will respond at my first opportunity and look forward to speaking with you.

I work ONLINE/by TELEPHONE nationally and IN-PERSON at various locations in Brighton, Hove and the surrounding area.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have recently completed Level 5 Foundation Degree in Counselling Approaches.  Whilst studying, I have worked voluntarily for three years for Giroscope Ltd, a world-leading housing charity in Hull, supporting their tenants and volunteers.  I have also worked as a student counsellor for East Riding College.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
