About me
Welcome Hello, I'm Patrick and I support people in making sense of their difficulties, to gain the understanding and clarity they need to move towards increased peace, happiness and fulfilment. It's the very least we deserve for ourselves.
Gentle, focussed support It can take courage and humility to acknowledge we're stuck, that we can't find our way out of whatever difficulties or concerns we're facing. I absolutely get that - this can feel like a big step.
Counselling provides temporary, gentle yet focussed professional support that can help you gain understanding and subsequent clarity of your problems that can naturally illuminate those next steps forward that might be illuding you at the moment.
A space to be genuinely yourself As your counsellor I'll provide a space in which you feel warmly understood and respected exactly as you are and where you are in life right now; I'll accompany you as you explore your experience, and gain the understanding you need to move towards an increasingly fulfilling, contented experience.
I offer a FREE 60min Introductory Session online or by phone - please take advantage of this if it feels right for you. It's a great opportunity to talk a little about your situation, see how that feels for you and whether pursuing counselling right now feels right for you, and also if we feel like a good fit working together.
I work ONLINE/by TELEPHONE nationally and IN-PERSON at various locations in Brighton, Hove and Portslade.
If you have any questions at all then please don't hesitate to get in touch by text, call or email.

I will respond at my first opportunity, and look forward to speaking with you.
Warmly, Patrick
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and Level 5 Foundation Degree in Counselling Approaches.
Whilst studying, I have worked voluntarily for three years at Giroscope Ltd, a world-leading housing charity in Hull, supporting their tenants and volunteers. I have also worked as a student counsellor for East Riding College in supporting a diverse range of learners.
Presently, I am in private practice in Brighton, Hove and Portslade supporting people towards a better experience of living, whilst also working voluntarily for Lewes Low Cost Counselling Service in East Sussex.
My present formal training commitment is in Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy whilst continuing my own self-directed learning in my core modality of the person-centred approach, with a deep side interest in the spiritual aspect of our experience.
It's an often humbling experience and always a privilege to meet those in their distress and difficulty, to witness their courage, resilience and resourcefulness in attending to present problems, and move towards an experience of living they see for themselves. The rewards speak for themselves I think.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
