About me

If you're feeling confused, overwhelmed or anxious, are struggling to gain clarity on how to move forwards right now, and want to find your next steps, I can help you.

Why Counselling?

It can be difficult to make sense of our experience - our mind's a busy place at the best of times, and especially so when we find ourselves pulled along by strong currents of confusion or over-thinking, stress, anxiety, and worse.

Often just talking to someone about what's going on for us can begin to relieve the tension we're experiencing: we might already know that there's something wonderfully therapeutic in articulating the busy thoughts in our heads into something more tangible we are able to make more sense of.

Coming to Counselling Feels Like a Big Step

Asking for help with our difficulties can feel like a huge step, a last resort perhaps as we struggle to find the solutions we need to move forwards.  And yet it might also be seen as an extraordinarily courageous first step towards making the changes we need to set ourself on course for a happier, increasingly fulfilling life.

How Does It Work?

I understand how you might feel coming to counselling, and I'll support you with complete acceptance of who and where you feel you are in your life right now, providing a completely confidential, warm and safe space in which you can explore your difficulties and challenges without judgement, at your own pace.

Working together to reestablish and embolden a sense of value and trust in yourself, I believe it's more than possible for you to move towards increasing clarity and a clearer sense of choice, enabling you to better meet your own needs whilst balancing the demands and challenges of everyday life.

If you would like to work with me in developing a clearer sense of who you are and what you need, and begin moving towards an increasingly authentic, purposeful and content sense of yourself, please get in touch to arrange a free 30-minute introductory phone call to discuss your needs.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have recently completed Level 5 Foundation Degree in Counselling Approaches.  Whilst studying, I have worked voluntarily for three years for Giroscope Ltd, a world-leading housing charity in Hull, supporting their tenants and volunteers.  I have also worked as a student counsellor for East Riding College.  My counselling office is located within Giroscope's headquarters, where I continue to work for the charity.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
