About me

Are you feeling anxious or experiencing low mood?

Have you started to feel overwhelmed by everyday life?  Maybe you find yourself constantly worrying and feeling anxious?   Are you feeling low and finding it hard to motivate yourself?   Have you lost confidence in your ability to do your job or manage your home life? Do you feel your relationships with family and friends are negatively impacted because you just don’t feel yourself right now?

Anxiety and low mood can leave you feeling  like life is just not same anymore  but working with me will give you time and space to consider new possibilities and start writing a new chapter of your life.  It might all feel overwhelming right now, but you are not alone and together we can navigate this journey.

You might be left feeling like all your old coping strategies are no longer working.   We can work together to identify new coping strategies to help you navigate this stage of your life with more confidence.  We can explore ways to improve your relationships and help you feel more fulfilled.

What you can expect from me:

  • A free introductory call to explore how anxiety or low mood is impacting you and if what I have to offer is the right fit for you.
  • One to one sessions where I provide a safe, confidential space for you to fully explore and express your feelings without fear of judgement.
  • A better understanding of how anxiety or low mood is impacting you and explore underlying reasons for this.
  • Suggestions of tools and techniques that you can try to help alleviate some of the emotional distress you may be experiencing based on your individual needs.
  • Signposting and referrals to appropriate resources or services that may suit your needs.

I offer face-to-face appointments based in Kemnay or online sessions via zoom for anyone in the UK.

I also have a special interest in supporting women who may be peri-menopausal or menopausal and can offer a safe space to explore how this is impacting on your mental health.

Training, qualifications & experience

Post Graduate Diploma in Person Centred Counselling (University of Aberdeen)

Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work and Applied Social Studies (Robert Gordon University)

BSc (hons) Psychology (University of Stirling)

I have 20 years experience working with adults, children and young people in both the local authority and third sector using relational, trauma informed, strength based and solution focused approaches.

I am passionate about empowering people to be their true self and value the unique worth of every individual.  I believe that there should be no stigma seeking support for our emotional and mental wellbeing.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
