About me
Choosing to start counselling is a brave step, and I am here to support you take that. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or just want to understand yourself on a deeper level, I am here to offer a safe space where you can explore these areas at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
My name is Nicki, and I’m a person-centred counsellor, which means I believe that each person has the answers within themselves, but there may be times where some support is needed to be able to clarify and find out what these are. Life can feel difficult and overwhelming at times. I will give you the space and support to process your experiences, thoughts, and feelings at your pace in a warm, safe, and non-judgemental environment. I prioritise the importance of creating a space where you feel truly heard and accepted as you are. This enables a safe space where you can be open and honest with yourself. Sometimes, sharing your true thoughts and being truly heard is enough.
I have experience working with depression, anxiety, loss, low self-esteem, feeling overwhelmed, and domestic abuse. I have also worked with clients who have ADHD and autism, enabling them to have the space to explore what this means for them and discover who they are and what they need. Sometimes in life, it can be difficult to put healthy boundaries in place to enable your own happiness. I will support you to discover what these are, if this is something you find challenging.
Alongside private counselling, I volunteer as a counsellor with a mental health charity that supports local families based in Wrexham.
Beyond counselling, I have a background in teaching primary school-aged children for over 20 years. This has given me a deeper insight into the impact of childhood adversity on individuals.
I am registered with the BACP and my work is guided by their ethical and professional guidelines and standards.
I offer face-to-face counselling sessions on Thursdays at Emerald Therapy Services in Chester, CH2.
For more flexible options, I offer online counselling and telephone sessions.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
