About me
Thank-you for taking the time to view my profile.
I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I work with an Integrative approach and I am trained in a number of theoretical disciplines. In addition to my private practice that has been operative in Wombourne and Sedgley over ten years, I have worked for number of years as the lead Counsellor with a local end of life care (EOLC) charity.
I am a Recognised provider for Aviva, AXA PPP, BUPA, Vitalityhealth (formally Pruhealth) insurance companies and I am an approved therapist for counselling students studying at Keele University and other H/E organisations
I offer online (zoom) or telephone sessions to all clients and supervisees who wish to access therapy or supervision in this way.
At some point in life everyone faces fear, crisis and Issues. In everyday situations people cope and usually manage to get by. At other times or major life events, a person’s coping mechanisms may not work as well as they have done previously. This is where counselling, often referred to as ‘talking therapy’ comes into motion.
Counselling is for anyone struggling to come to terms with any of life’s events, including the associated emotional pain and distress that accompany difficulties. This can also be inclusive of general dissatisfaction with life as a whole. Counselling is a personal, open relationship that offers a safe environment to work through life’s complications and trauma in an unbiased non-judgmental way.
This allows for the process of transition, healing and an opportunity to explore options that make for better coping strategies and decision making. The ideal aim is to equip a person for the here and now in an individual way that is bespoke to their future life plans and paths.
Training, qualifications & experience
I currently hold a Professional diploma in therapeutic Counselling (QCF) and BA Honours in Integrative Counselling. I have completed numerous training courses for Counselling Professional development (as per CPD menu on Website).
I have a wealth of experience as a practitioner working with adults and adolescents (11-18) with various emotional and behavioural issues.
In addition to this I have a solid background in the fields of mentoring and Coaching and experience of working as team practitioner supporting emotional intelligence.
I have been professionally trained in the disciplines of Personal centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT), Transactional analysis and Integrative Psychotherapies.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
