About me

I am a qualified psychotherapist, who specializes in creative and nature therapy with 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults. In this time, I have worked with several local charities, CAMHs and schools providing therapeutic support to those suffering from emotional, behavioural and mental health issues, which covers a variety of people from various backgrounds.

How I work:

There are two strands to my work, either working inside or outside. The work in my therapy rooms in Aylesbury or Leighton Buzzard is with children, adolescents or adults. My work outside takes place at a local country park with adolescents and adults.

Either way, my sessions will provide you with a confidential space to talk or express yourself non-verbally with activities such as clay, art, sand tray work, play or using nature as a medium to explore the thoughts and feelings about your life. Part of the work would be exploring how you can express yourself in a way that feels comfortable to you.

The most important aspect of my work is the building of a therapeutic relationship with you. This is about providing you with a sense of safety and allowing you to work at your own pace.

As a psychotherapist, I work from an Integrative stance, which means that I will tailor my work to suit you and your needs. I believe that we are all unique individuals, and this requires a slightly different way of working with everyone.

How can Counselling help:

I work from the perspective that we all have the knowledge within us to fulfil our potential. This can often get stuck, and it is at this point that we need to understand what is going on in our lives. It is often about looking at the past to see what patterns we have set up that initially worked for us but now need to be updated. Sometimes this can be a quick process and at times it may take much longer. I believe it is about helping you realize what needs to be changed.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
