About me
About me:
My passion in life has always been to help people. Previously, as a nurse, I focussed on the physical healing, but as a counsellor I have experienced far greater reward when seeing emotional wounds heal. The wounds that are not externally visible, that are often too painful to talk about and that most people would rather avoid. People find it easy to talk to me because I am friendly, approachable and empathetic.
I would be happy to hear from you regardless of what your problem is, but I especially work with bereavement, relational problems and trauma.
I am a Christian, but I want to work with you regardless of what faith you have, or if you have no faith or religion at all. Any matters regarding your faith, or lack of faith, are welcome, but only if and when you want to approach the subject.
My training:
I have an integrative counselling degree, with a strong psychodynamic emphasis, which enables me to use different approaches to help you. I have been trained to work on line or in person.
How does my counselling work:
When you make contact with me, preferably by email, I will arrange a first free online session. In this session we will have the opportunity to get to know each other and together decide how to move forward. I offer this free session as I realise that finding the right counsellor can often be challenging.
Counselling is about YOU, your feelings, your problems, your emotions, whatever you want to discuss. I offer open ended counselling which means you control the pace and you decide when you are ready to end the counselling sessions. Sessions are weekly at an agreed time and day. The sessions are 50 minutes long and can be in person or on line. Any details of our sessions will be kept strictly confidential.
You and your problems will be treated with utmost care and respect.
Training, qualifications & experience
After working for many years as a nurse, I decided to focus on the internal struggles and anxieties that are often even too painful to acknowledge or speak about. I have a degree in integrative counselling which enables me to use different counselling approaches because I do believe we are all uniquely different and there is not one approach that is right for everyone. I have had experience dealing with adults from different cultures and all ages, each one with unique struggles and anxieties. My passion is to help people, whether the problem is big or small, new or old or a combination of them all.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
After your initial contact, I will contact you, via phone or on line, whichever you prefer. We will have an informal meeting, free of charge, to get to know each other better. This would be to determine if we would be a good 'match' to continue counselling. You would be under no obligation if you decide to look for a different counsellor, if fact if you did not think we could work together, I would encourage you to find a more suitable counsellor.
