About me

I offer individual counselling for adults in Reading and London, as well as online across the UK.

Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly, though we can agree a pace that suits your circumstances. Some people come for short-term, focused work; others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns and identity questions.

My approach is integrative, drawing on humanistic and psychodynamic thinking. This means we pay attention both to what is happening in the present and to how past experiences and relationships may still influence you.

I work particularly with bereavement and grief, LGBT+ clients, and men experiencing stress, anger or low mood. You do not need to arrive with clear goals — we can begin with whatever feels most pressing.

Counselling is confidential, with the usual professional exceptions which I will explain clearly at our first session.

If you are unsure whether therapy is right for you, an initial conversation can help you decide.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with its ethical framework.

My experience includes working with a national bereavement service, supporting clients within an LGBT+ charity, and providing therapy in a low-cost community practice. Through these roles I have worked with grief, identity questions, relationship difficulties and long-standing emotional patterns.

I engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development to support safe and thoughtful practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I offer a limited number of reduced fee appointments - please ask if this would make therapy more accessible for you. If these are not immediately available, I can place you on a waiting list. Reduced-fee places are usually held online, and limited to 12 sessions. This helps me offer fair availability to others.

Further information

The number of sessions varies from person to person, depending on your needs and goals. Many people find that a short-term focus of around 12-16 sessions can bring meaningful change, while others choose to continue for longer to explore things in greater depth.

I also know that life isn’t always neat and tidy. If shift work or unexpected changes make it hard to keep a fixed slot, I’ll do my best to be flexible so we can keep the work moving forward.
