About me

I qualified as a counsellor in 2007 and became accredited with the BACP in 2010.

I am currently offering face to face, telephone or online video sessions. Clients' feedback can be found on my website to see how others have experienced Therapy with Mike.

I work in a Person-Centred Integrative base building a relationship with you at the centre. I have a vast understanding and experience of working with Common Mental Health conditions such as Anxiety and Depression offering effective awareness and management strategies. I have lived experience of both and know that recovery is possible. I work in a creative way helping you build on your resources to give you more opportunities to manage any difficulties you may be experiencing.

There are so many life events which can lead us down these paths - Bereavement and grief, loss of self, loss of meaning, and relationship difficulties amongst many others. I help people identify the feelings they have and to make sense of their meaning.

I offer a safe place to explore these aspects and offer tools to help manage the symptoms and come to terms with the challenges the events bring us. I am aware of the effects of childhood trauma and work to help my clients make sense of a world that has often become challenging and confusing.

My Practice

Safety first... I help bring a sense of safety which is essential for exploration. There is no expectation to know the answers to the questions asked in session, it's up to us the work together to find them collaboratively. By helping raise your awareness we can then work together, at your pace, to make sense of things.

I offer Mindfulness techniques, Breath work and a variety of information about common mental health issues along with strategies to help cope with here and now, and a space to explore what happened. I also encourage clients to tap into their creative nature, challenge the inner critic in order to help healing and process difficult feelings.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
