About me

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, offering therapy to primary-aged children who may be struggling emotionally, behaviourally, or at school. I understand how worrying it can be as a parent when your child seems unhappy, anxious, withdrawn, or overwhelmed, and when it’s not always clear why. My aim is to provide a calm, supportive space where your child can begin to make sense of their feelings in a way that feels safe and manageable for them.

Children don’t always have the words to explain what’s going on inside. In psychodynamic therapy, we work through play, creativity, and the therapeutic relationship to help children express emotions that may feel confusing, frightening, or too big to hold alone.

How therapy can help:

Therapy can help children feel more settled, understood, and emotionally supported. Over time, children may begin to show improved emotional regulation, increased confidence, reduced anxiety or behavioural difficulties, and a greater ability to cope with change and challenges. Therapy can also help children develop a stronger sense of themselves and their feelings, which often supports healthier relationships at home and at school.

Training, qualifications & experience

Before training as a psychotherapist at the University of Essex, I worked in primary education for over five years. This means I have a strong, grounded understanding of children’s emotional worlds, the realities of school life, and how emotional distress can show itself through behaviour, learning difficulties, or physical symptoms. I value working thoughtfully with parents alongside the child, helping you to better understand your child’s emotional needs while keeping therapy a protected space for them.

I specialise in working with trauma and have experience supporting children affected by complex family dynamics, parental addiction, school avoidance, sibling difficulties, and early experiences of loss or disruption. I also have considerable experience working with children with SEND and adoptees, with a sensitive understanding of attachment, identity, and emotional regulation.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and work in line with their ethical framework. Above all, I aim to offer children a steady, reliable relationship where they feel seen, understood, and supported—and to help parents feel less alone as they support their child through a difficult time.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
