About me
Hello, I’m Matthew, i'm dedicated to supporting adult survivors of abuse or neglect.
Many of my clients come to me feeling unseen, overwhelmed by the long-lasting effects of growing up in families where love was conditional, boundaries were unclear and emotional needs were left unmet.
Some of you may have carried the heavy responsibility of managing a parent’s emotions or even “parenting” your own caregivers, especially in the presence of a narcissistic or emotionally unavailable parent. These experiences can leave you with deep emotional scars, creating patterns of shame, self-doubt, and difficulty setting healthy boundaries in adulthood. The good news is, therapy can help you find your way back to yourself.
I believe therapy is a collaborative journey where you can reconnect with the parts of you that were silenced or shamed, and begin reclaiming your true self — not by becoming someone new, but by uncovering who you’ve always been beneath the survival strategies.
I will help you make sense of what you're feeling, deepen your self-awareness, and discover more grounded and meaningful ways of relating to yourself and others. Through our work together, you'll be supported in building resilience to navigate life’s inevitable ups and downs.
I also bring my own lived experience as a suicide loss survivor and former Samaritan volunteer, which informs my compassionate stance when working with those carrying feelings of hopelessness or suicidal thoughts. Since becoming a therapist, I’ve helped many clients reconnect with themselves and regain a sense of control in their lives. Previous clients have said that they appreciate my empathetic listening and perception.
So, please get in touch to book an introductory call where we can assess whether we would work well together. I look forward to hearing from you

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
